well sort of. I think we talked about this in Ms.Avery's (now Mrs.Fig)class. Like if someone askes you a question or says something to you and you reply with "okay" or "nice" in a positive tone they will assume that you don't hate them, but in the same situation, if you reply the same words in a rude tone it will sound rude, aggresive, and sarcastic. As far as writing, grammer can affect the meaning. Remeber that book Mr.Masingil read? "A panda eats shoots and leaves" as opposed to "A panda eats, shoots, and leaves" there is, in fact, a difference.
There is always a way you can write something to make it sound better, like instead of saying I like candy you can say I enjoy the energy and joy that candy provides. With the accent thing, anything an English person says always sounds smarter.
