When is a peice of writing a poem and when is it just a random peice of writing? Is it perspective? What are the guidelines about what makes a poem a poem?
Personaly I think it has a lot to do with how famous you are. If Pablo Piccaso put a red dot on a blank canvas many meseums would want it badly, But if I put that same red dot on a blank canvas no meseum would ever take it.
I agree with Jacob because I think that the more known you are the more the public sees just what you can accomplish. Say, if you were still 'unknown' and wanted a book published, most publishers would turn you away. But if you were Garth Nix, J.K. Rowling or Stephanie Meyer all publishers (and everyone else, for that matter) would be head over heels for your newest long-awaited novel. Though I must say, I'm not sure exactly what the guidelines are for a poem. Sorry!
that makes a lot of sense but at the same time no sense. If a poem is like a song then what is an essay. A song verse is like a paragraph, and a stanza is like a verse in a song. I don't think that that helped at all but if it did your welcome!!
II agree with Jacob and Delaney that it depends on how famous you are. I think that when you are a really well known poet you kind of have the power to break the rules. I do think ultimately it comes down to that you can bend the rules but if it doesn't make since in the poem no one will read it.
